Tamesis Books Prospective Authors

Why Publish with Tamesis Books?

Tamesis Books is a leading academic imprint specialising in studies of the literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking world.

We offer authors all the friendliness and personal attention of a small organisation, together with the considerable marketing capabilities and production experience of Boydell & Brewer, one of the few independent, academic publishers in the UK.

We pride ourselves on our swift response to all queries and aim to give a decision on a manuscript within three months of receiving it for evaluation. Our review procedure is that of all academic presses and manuscripts and are selected on the basis of merit.

Production support for Tamesis Books is provided by Boydell & Brewer Ltd. The books are thoughtfully designed and carefully produced, with attention given to paper quality, binding, and the reproduction quality of interior photographs, musical examples, and other artwork. The Boydell & Brewer production staff work with professional designers to create attractive and marketable book covers, and with printers to ensure the books will be durable and long-lasting.

Sales & Marketing, with offices in the UK, US and representatives throughout the world, make sure that review copies reach all the relevant journals and academics in the field and are kept constantly up to date with details of new volumes.

We attend conferences to display and sell books but also to monitor areas of current interest and promising papers, and to take advantage of the unequalled opportunities and gatherings to meet and talk with current and potential authors. Our catalogues are mailed to academics and librarians and our website is regularly updated. Authors return to us because of the level of service offered, and we work hard to maintain this at every stage of the publication process.

Call for Manuscripts

Tamesis aims to provide a forum for the best current work relating to all periods of the literature, cinema, history and art of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.

We welcome manuscripts written in English or Spanish. Preference is given to monographs of 80,000 words and over, and to volumes of collected essays of similar length on condition that they have a clear unifying theme; short monographs and reprints of essays will not be considered, editions of texts only in exceptional cases.

Book Proposal Guidelines

This proposal form provides us with the information necessary to make an initial appraisal of your publication project. If we decide that it is a possibility for the list, we will contact you to request further material for peer review. If the complete manuscript is not available, at least two sample chapters and a detailed breakdown of the rest of the book will be required.

As a matter of policy, we do not consider proposals under review by other publishers. You can send this by post or via email below.
