Peer Review

All Tamesis books are submitted to experts in the field for rigorous assessment. Our standards are high, and only titles with positive recommendations from reviewers are submitted to the Boydell & Brewer editorial board for consideration. To ensure that quality is maintained, our books also undergo one final review before production begins.

Production Values

All of our books receive careful copy-editing and typesetting. Our books are thoughtfully designed and meticulously produced, with attention given to paper quality, binding, and the reproduction quality of artwork. The Boydell & Brewer pre-press team works with professional designers to create attractive and marketable book covers and with printers to ensure the books will be durable and long-lasting.

Global Marketing

We use traditional and digital marketing to bring each book to its appropriate audience and prioritize review coverage with an allocation of gratis print copies. We attend conferences to display and sell books, to monitor areas of current interest, and to take advantage of the unequalled opportunities to talk with current and potential authors. The Boydell & Brewer blog, Proofed, features original articles by authors, editors, series editors, and staff members.

Boydell & Brewer has its own marketing teams in both the UK and the USA, with dedicated Tamesis contacts for authors, and agents throughout the world. In the USA, we work with the Casemate Group as a distribution partner to maximise sales and reach new markets.

Open Access and Digital Platforms

All Tamesis books are published simultaneously in print and Ebook formats, the latter including both ePDFs and ePubs (for distribution to Amazon, Apple and Kobo amongst others).

Our Ebooks are available on a number of library platforms including JSTOR, Cambridge Core, EBSCO, ProQuest, and Dawsonera.

We also offer authors the opportunity to publish their books and chapters as Open Access.

Book Proposal Guidelines

We are delighted that you are interested in publishing with Tamesis Books. For an overview of the publication process, from submission of a proposal to delivery of book copies into the warehouse, please see this downloadable guide.

Our proposal form provides us with the information necessary to make an initial appraisal of your publication project. If we decide that it is a possibility for Tamesis, we will contact you to request further material for peer review. If the complete manuscript is not available, at least two sample chapters and a detailed breakdown of the rest of the book will be required.

As a matter of policy, we do not consider proposals under review by other publishers.

You can send the proposal form via email to:
