Tamesis Companions
The Companion Series aims to provide a set of lively, scholarly and accessible introductions to the societies and cultures of the Hispanic and Lusophone worlds. A Companion can focus on a canonical work, the oeuvre of a single author, a movement, a genre or a field of study. The series is aimed primarily at undergraduate and graduate students but also responds to the general reader looking for an intelligent and reliable introduction to the area in question. For this reason, all Companions offer a substantial introduction to help to orientate the reader coming to the subject for the first time, a list of suggestions for further reading and English translations for quotations and titles. The Tamesis Companion avoids the Charybdis of pedestrianism while steering clear of the Scylla of academic shorthand, in order to produce a book which is as intellectually challenging as it is engaging and accessible.
