This new series will publish original and innovative studies, typically located at the intersection of research in theatre with music, history, science, the visual arts, the press, performance, and politics. Subjects will range from high cultural relationships between art and theatre to popular genres of entertainment. The series editors encourage a broad approach to theatrical culture, embracing not only studies of plays, performers, and the musical stage but also amusements and entertainments within and beyond conventional theatre spaces.

Nineteenth-Century British Theatrical Culture, by its very nature, will be both an interdisciplinary and a cross-disciplinary series – a home for ambitious work that situates British theatre within the global stage. It invites and encourages submissions across the full spectrum of research, including those emphasising cultural mobility and postcolonial studies. The series editors and Publishers welcome enquiries relating to potential monographs, edited collections, and shorts (short books, approx. 40k words), including Open Access titles.
