African Theatre 18: Non-Themed Volume
The forthcoming issue of African Theatre for November 2019 publication is now underway with an open call for papers on African Theatre. We invite articles of approx. 6000 words (including notes). Please submit indications of interest via abstracts of proposed articles of about 3-500 words to the African Theatre Series Editors, in the first instance to Dr Chukwuma Okoye, (who will lead on this issue), as a word document no later than 15 August 2018. Full articles would be due, for submission by 31 October 2018.

Whatever research focus you choose, please be explicit about how the specific issue or example you raise resonates for/ in the wider African theatre / performance context.

In formatting your essay, please use Harvard style, and include a full bibliography. Please contact Yvette Hutchison ( for a copy of the African Theatre style-sheet.

Please let us know if you have production photographs for which you have copyright permission and that can be included in the collection or may be used as a cover image at no extra cost. We look forward to receiving your proposals and essays. Please let us know if you have any questions.
