History of British Intelligence

With the recent opening of government archives to public scrutiny, it is at last possible to study the vital role that intelligence has played in forming and executing policy in modern history. This new series aims to be the leading forum for work in the area.

Peter Martland

Dr Peter Martland is a member of the Cambridge University History Faculty and a lecturer with Pembroke College’s International Programme. He is author of Lord Haw Haw: the English Voice of Nazi Germany (2003) and was a member of the research team that worked on the official history of MI5, published by Christopher Andrew as The Defence of the Realm: The Authorized History of MI5 (2009). He is a co-convenor of the Cambridge intelligence seminar.
